During the summer months this wonderful region is rich in culture and activities - far too many to experience with just one or two visits.

Our studio is situated approximately 2 km (by car) from the centre of the village (1 km - on foot). Why not take a leisurely stroll down to the village in the morning to purchase your freshly baked croissants and return via one of the many well marked paths - or alternatively take the local bus back to the ski school area (just above studio) which is Free of Charge!!

You will find the village of Combloux during the summer months pleasantly bustling with activity, but remember this is not a major tourist area, therefore unpleasant crowds/traffic jams are relatively undheard of.

For activities in the local area see our Things to do page.

Many restaurants just above our studio are open during the main summer season and of course all the restaurants are open in the village throughout the year.

During the months of July and August, many of the chairlifts are open to pedestrians/cyclists to take you to the summit. From here you can spend pleasant lunch-time stops in one of the many mountain top restaurants and either walk/cycle down the well marked trails or return via the chairlift - the choice is yours.

The major resorts of Megeve (10 minutes by car) and Chamonix
(40 minutes by car) are quite different to Combloux. Here you will find all the major shops and tourist attractions in the area - plenty to keep the more adventurous and active persons content for weeks at a time. Both these resorts and many other nearby major towns are a great place to spend a few hours and simply people watch with a cool glass of local wine or beer.

But remember there are numerous other nearby villages that invite you to visit them, where you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.

Cordon with its gentle rolling landscape is well worth a visit. Argentierre is a high mountain resort with numerous trails to explore. Les Carroz is larger than Combloux but again is not overdeveloped and quite bustling with activity during both day and night. Servoz is on the other side of the valley where mountaineers practice their climbling techniques on the local rock faces and further up the valley you can drive to watch the Parenpeters taking off from Plaine Joux. Les Houches is smaller than Combloux but is worth a stop on the way up the valley towards Chamonix.

This is just a very brief insight into places to visit during summer months - you really do need to come and experience for yourself the true diversity of this wonderful region.
